Organic Photoredox Catalyst Design for CO2 Reduction

Reducing CO2 effectively through greener chemistry is vital to combatting rising levels of anthropogenic CO2. Organic photoredox catalysts such as the unsubstituted terphenyl shown above have demonstrated strong reductive potential to generate anionic CO2 that is then converted to value added products. By modelling and analyzing the kinetics of electron transfer, our group aims to tune the electronic properties of these catalysts for increasingly efficient CO2 reduction.
